When two device-groups are configured, multicast failover will be configured on all devices in the cluster. The slave will have both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and it will advertise the IPv6 address in the same way as the slave ldap server arlmgtdk02.
For the purpose of this post, let's have one master, one slave, and one device-group in the cluster. The device-group corresponds to a physical location in the cluster: 0 for master, 1 for slave. For instance, the cluster has three servers:
The JobTracker is the master of the cluster and the DataNode is the slave. The JobTracker maintains a configurable multicast address list, which contains the addresses of all the nodes in the cluster. The slave takes the configurable multicast address list and the configuration from the master JobTracker and uses the multicast addresses to send its messages to each node in the cluster.
Symptoms: This happens only when the following conditions are met: -- 10000-series appliances. -- At reboot, at a restart of the bcm56xxd daemon, or when a copper SFP is enabled or disabled. -- There is at least one copper SFP present in the appliance. -- Interfaces are spread between hardware muxes. That means some SFPs are in ports 1.1-1.8 and other SFPs are in ports 1.
But, if they are running on one machine, you can run the Hadoop services on multiple machines. What you need to do is run the JobTracker on one machine, and one machine running the slaves. This can be done using the cluster-scheme.conf file.
For example, I can login into the master ldap server. I create a new account for a new user. I am able to login with this account at the slave. However after a few minutes I am able to log out from this account. The next login is still able to get the right LDAP credentials but not able to get the new user.
Some applications, such as Java, require that the application directories and libraries are updated to a newer version before the user can update. However, there are some applications that are not explicitly API-specific, such as the X Window System, the X server source code, are automatically updated as required.
