After the commercial success of Don and Neranjana (2007), Bhatt decided to make a romantic comedy film. Upon the script, he approached Emraan Hashmi and Kamna Jethmal a small village in Himachal Pradesh, his home state. Bhatt said, \"She agreed to be a female lead.\"[2] The filmmaker went to Berlin from January to February 2010 for the casting. He called his agents in Germany to scout for a suitable actress.[7] Simran Kaur Mundi could not do the film as she had already committed to another project The film, based on the novel by Mukul Kesavan, was shot from March to April, 2010 in total 15 locations in Himachal Pradesh. Filming started from 3 March 2010. The shooting started for the second schedule on 2 June 2010. Hashmi said in an interview that the film took three and half months to complete.[8] The film was partially shot in Germany. The song My Brother Peter was filmed in a mansion with lavish rooms and ceilings. The film's climax was shot in a village where kids played kabaddi. Kapil Sharma dubbed in for the scene and Emraan Hashmi did the dubbing.[9] Anuraag Singh was the editor of the film. Additional editing was done by Heeralal Singh and Lokesh Tewari. The film went on floors from 22 August 2010. The film's title song was shot in India and had 40 different languages. The song was shot in Visakhapatnam, Bhimtal, Manali and Kullu.[10] The song, which was choreographed by Mithoon son of Udit Narayan, and Rajiv Menon, who was the choreographer for the original\"\" is based on the concept of floating, which the filmmakers say symbolises the concept of youth and flying. Pancham song is a tribute to Hindustani music and is a collection of six songs performed by a concept of Indian classical music by Gaurav Dutt Joshi. The film was released on 8 July 2011.
